[He does regret some of his past actions, but he doesn't regret that he is here now. He's willing to live with his mistakes rather than think that dying was the only real way to atone for them. He has a second chance now to do things right, and he has a family worth going for. He's very happy.
... He will still absolutely kill someone gruesomely if they ever so much as threatened said family but that's neither here nor there.]
[Grimm squeezes Danny's hand again, and off they go.
Once they return home, Grimm excuses himself to fetch the gift from their bedroom. It's a small box neatly wrapped in red.]
For you.
[Inside is a glass eye. Not just any glass eye, though: it's an exact match for one of Grimm's brilliant scarlet eyes. Nothing that can pass for human, but something Danny has called beautiful many times.]
[Danny carefully takes the glass eye out, holding it up to the light to look at the way the color shines. He then brings it closer to get a better examination, clearly entranced despite it not being a real eye.]
Would it... would it be alright if I put this in right now?
[He wants to wear it and see how he looks in the mirror with it right away.]
[Give him a moment here to turn away so that he can remove his current glass eye he's using for his right eye, and then use a small hand mirror to put in the new one and make sure that it's in properly. He turns this way and that, examining the red eye blinking back at him before he properly turns to face Grimm shyly.]
[Danny's definitely blushing now as he examines his reflection again. Even though his left's real eye color is not red, he's relieved that the red of the glass right eye actually goes well with it.]
[Danny leans into the touch, and once he sets the box that had held the glass eye down, he brings his arms up to wrap around Grimm in an embrace here.]
And it's all thanks to you, dear. You make me very happy.
Oh, I know... still, I can't help but worry a little anyway, sometimes. After all, it is our first time spending it together as a married couple, so I wanted to make sure today is special for both of us.
I'm sure you'd make for a wonderful poet: I know I'm certainly not that gifted with words, as creative writing and such was never my strong suit when I was in school.
[Not unless it involved writing stuff about eyes. Which, he couldn't do very often without the school potentially labeling him as a creepy problem child, so he had to keep that shit on the downlow.]

They walk around the garden some more, before eventually...]
Should we return? I... admit, I am a bit nervous about whether you'll like your gift.

Plus, he can't deny that he is very curious about this gift Grimm seems to have planned.]
Alright. I'm ready to return if you are.

I... I can't believe it. It's gorgeous.

Of course, my dear. I'm sure it'll look lovely on you.

Well? What do you think?

[He's always beautiful, but especially when he's happy, he's transcendent.]

This is such a wonderful gift, Grimm. I love it.

[Gently strokes his cheek with a free hand.]
You he such a wonderful smile, my love.

So, this is a good first Valentine's Day, would you say?
no subject
Yes, I would say so. I'm glad that it's turned out well today.
no subject
Were you worried? I would love anything from you.

[So there was really no need to fuss on his account.]

Why do you always have to have such charming responses at the ready like that?
[But hey, that charismatic confidence is part of what made Danny fall for Grimm, so he would never really want Grimm to change that.]

[Love poems, because he is a sap.]

[He leans up a bit so that he can press a kiss against Grimm's face.]
I love you, Grimm. I'm so happy that you married me.
[It's definitely a sign of improvement that Danny didn't even say "someone like me" as he would before in the past.]
